The Reverend Dr. Kent L. Poindexter is a native Chicagoan, raised on the South Side of Chicago and a proud product of the Chicago Public School system. He completed his undergraduate studies at Bradley University where he also did graduate studies in Counseling and Human Development as a graduate assistant to the African American Studies program. Answering the call to ministry, Rev. Poindexter matriculated at Chicago Theological Seminary, where he completed the Master of Divinity degree in Pastoral Care. He later earned the Doctor of Ministry degree at United Theological Seminary (Dayton, OH), where he has served as adjunct faculty for the Doctor of Ministry program.
Dr. Poindexter has more than thirty years of active ministry experience, as a pastor, teacher, counselor, administrator at the denominational level. His experiences to date have led Dr. Poindexter to Bryn Mawr Community Church, where he is pleased to serve as Interim Pastor. As the congregation continues its quest as servants of Jesus Christ, and presenting the true ministry of Christ to the South Shore community, he looks with anxious anticipation to making a difference in the lives of its members and the wider community.
